Dr. Ennis is a Strobel Education consultant, a nationally board-certified teacher (ELA/YA), and a college English instructor.


A public school teacher for eight years before leaving the classroom to coach ELA teachers at the district level, Kristie is an intuitive and engaging presenter.


She’s well-versed on various topics—including her deep dive into the Science of Reading for elementary classrooms—and her ability to read a room helps her make magic during her teacher training.

Big Idea

With research from the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) indicating that 4th, 8th, and 12th-grade reading scores are once again abysmally low, particularly among disadvantaged students, it’s time to reflect on our teaching practices to evaluate how to support these learning gaps.

Why Science of Reading?

In The Science of Reading Workshop, we unpack research-based instructional practices that incorporate multiple components of literacy including word recognition, orthographic mapping, phonics decoding, and language comprehension. We package these practices in lessons that we model for you so you can see in real time how to apply scientific reading instruction in your classroom.

Workshop Materials

All attendees will recieve access to a Digital Resource Bundle and other training materials that are accessible to print prior to the event or download digitally to follow along on a laptop, tablet, or e-reader.

Continuing Ed Credit Info

Teachers and administrators who attend this live event will earn a Professional Development Certificate of Completion for 12 total hours.

Am I registered?

  • Individual Registrations: You will receive an email confirmation once you are registered. If you have not received this email, please contact us at [email protected]
  • Team Registrations: Once you purchase your event tickets, you wil be responsible for completing the registration form after your checkout. Once complete, you will receive an email confirmation verifying your registration.

What is needed at check-in?

You will need a photo ID and the email with which you registered.

Can I purchase event tickets onsite?

Walk-ins are not preferred at our events. We will not allow entry if the event is sold out. If space allows, we will accommodate as best as we can. Full payment is required prior to entry into the event. The registration fee for walk-ins is the standard event registration cost plus a 20% administration fee.

Do you accept POs (Purchase Orders) for events?

  • Yes, we accept POs for event registration.
  • Upon registration, there is a space for you to enter your PO number.
  • If you do not know your PO number at the time of purchase, please email [email protected] when it becomes available.
  • If your PO is unpaid at the time of the event, you will be unable to attend.

  • Attendees of this event may substitute another person at no extra charge for up to 14 days before the event.

How can I get a refund / cancellation?

Substitutions/Cancellations

Cancellations occurring 15 or more days prior to the workshop will result in a refund, minus a $50 service fee; cancellations occurring fewer than 15 days prior to the workshop do not qualify for any refund.

A workshop registration may be transferred to another individual with advance notice; however, free registration for school administrators is a non-transferable offer. Transfers are only valid for the same workshop/location, and original registrant is responsible for payment of all fees due to Strobel Education.

Please email all cancellations and transfer requests to [email protected].

Strobel Education reserves the right to cancel workshops at their discretion in the event of low registration or other circumstances. Every effort will be made to hold workshops as scheduled, but in the unlikely event of a cancellation, registrants will be notified and receive full refunds. It is recommended that you not make non-refundable travel arrangements without contacting Strobel Education to find out if your workshop is being considered for cancellation.

Will I get an event certificate for attending?

Yes, you will earn a Professional Development Certificate of Completion for 12 hours.
